Citing Hurricane Ian and the recovery efforts in neighboring Florida and South Carolina, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp extended the suspension of Georgia’s gas tax.  Because of the gas tax suspension, Georgia has some of the lowest fuel prices in the nation. 

Kemp said in a statement on Monday, “While Georgia was largely spared the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian, Florida and South Carolina endured both significant destruction and flooding,” he said. As we both pray for these neighbors in need and send resources and volunteers to aid in their recovery, we’re also bracing for the impact on already strained supply chains and prices at the gas pump that are already too high.”

Kemp suspended the gas tax in the state back in March of this year – a move that has saved Georgia motorists around $800 million.
