A Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call from Food Mart on Highway 48 in Summerville after a store clerk reported that a customer had been sexually harassing her. 

When the responding deputy talked with the store clerk, she told the deputy that a man identified as Jason England had come into the store and made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature.  The clerk then asked England to leave the store and not come back while she was working.  At that point, the clerk said that England began cussing and yelling.  The clerk retrieved video footage of the incident, which corroborated her account of events.

According to the report, the deputy saw the man fondling himself while making the inappropriate comments to the clerk.  After yelling at the clerk, the man reportedly got on his John Deere zero-turn mower and left the store.

The deputy advised the clerk to take the issue to magistrate court and told the clerk that the sheriff’s department would have extra patrols in the area during hours the store is open.
