A pedestrian was struck by an oncoming vehicle in Rome on Monday.  Rome Police say that forty-two-year-old Patricia Barnes stepped out into the path of a 2007 Jeep Liberty that was turning onto Redmond Circle.  Police say that the pedestrian was wearing earbuds and was not walking in the crosswalk.  The incident happened around 10:41 AM on Monday.  WZQZ has reported about the uptick in pedestrian accidents and deaths in Georgia and across the country.  Chattooga County has seen four pedestrian deaths this year.
