The chairman of the committee Eddy Willingham says that the purpose of the meetings is for public input on how the land use ordinance can be improved.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry hastily adopted the ordinance back in the spring of this year and since that time there has been growing concern about how the ordinance will affect Chattooga County landowners.

A citizens group has organized in response to the ordinance and has been holding their own meetings to educate the public on the concerns that they have about how property can be divided among family members and how the new ordinance will affect agriculture in the county.

This evening’s meeting will be held at 6PM at the Chattooga County Civic Center located on Highway 48 in Summerville, across from Truist Bank.
