Dogs that are abandoned in Chattooga County are finding new homes over 1,000 miles away in Maine thanks to the Road Trip Home Animal Rescue.

News Center Maine reported that a group of seven puppies was found in very bad shape by a good Samaritan.  The dogs were dumped in a crate and left for dead in the woods. At the time, they were about 10-12 weeks old. The Samaritan took them to her home and then to Road Trip Home Animal Rescue for help.

The animal rescue worked with Chattooga County Animal Control to get the dogs the care they needed and then drove them for twenty-four hours to find new homes in Maine.  Maine often has empty kennels at their animal shelters, and dogs from across the South find new homes in the northeastern most state in the United States.
