The Georgia Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps low-income Georgians with home energy bills to reduce the risk of health and safety issues that occur as a result of disconnection.
Qualified individuals may be able to receive energy bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs. Applications are offered first to home-bound individuals, individuals age 65 and over and those with life-threatening circumstances.

The Georgia Department of Human Services contracts with North Georgia Community Action, Inc. to administer the program. LIHEAP benefits are open to U.S. citizens or aliens admitted to the U.S. for lawful, permanent residence.

To apply, bring your most recent heating bill, most recent electric bill, proof of household income, proof of a valid Social Security number, driver’s license or valid photo I.D. and/or documentation proving alien status to 152 Senior Drive in Summerville.

The senior priority period ends on November 30th.  The program doesn’t open until November 1, 2022.  Do not call or leave a message.
