Earlier this month, Summerville Police arrested a woman at a checkpoint near Penn Street after she was found to be in possession of drugs, including Fentanyl.
According to a report released by the Summerville Police Department this week, Summerville police officers and deputies with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office were conducting the safety checkpoint on October 9th when a Ford pickup pulled up. Officers said they could smell marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle turned over a small amount of marijuana to the officers.
When officers spoke with the passenger, identified as twenty-nine-year-old Brittany Leanne Stanley of Summerville, she permitted a search of her pocketbook that turned up prescription drugs and a white powdery substance that field tested for Fentanyl. Stanley told officers that she believed the substance to be cocaine and said she didn’t know how it got in her pocketbook.
Stanley was arrested on drug charges and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
