Earlier this week, motorists on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge experienced delays in traffic due to ongoing work on the ridge.  WZQZ News spoke with the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) for an update.

Georgia DOT District 6 Communications Director Joe Schulman said, “Currently the Taylors Ridge Slide Repair project is between phases. Phase 1 construction is complete and the phase 2 preliminary geotechnical studies are taking place to assist with the design for the next phase of construction. There are no current updates as to when the geotechnical studies will be completed and construction will begin.”

The delay on Monday of this week was due to DOT Routine Maintenance Crews cleaning out the ditches, “to achieve positive drainage”, according to the DOT.  Schulman added, “This work has been completed and the lane closures have been removed.”
