A wet town in a dry county – Centre, Alabama has a projected date of sometime the first of March to see alcohol begin to show up on store shelves and in restaurants, according to Centre Mayor Tony Wilky. Voters in Centre passed the Alcohol Referendum and the Centre City Council adopted an ordinance for alcohol sales last month.
According to the Centre Town Clerk, around 8 businesses have applied for an alcohol license under the new ordinance. Centre Offiicals say that it will take several weeks to get all of the license applications approved by the state.
