Summerville Police were called to a domestic altercation on Oak Street on Thursday afternoon of this week, involving a man wielding a knife.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed a man running out the back of the residence.  Officers quickly located the man crouched in some bushes nearby.  As officers spoke with the complainants they learned that the suspect became violently agitated because his girlfriend was in the apartment with another woman who was gay.  The suspect said that he didn’t want his girlfriend “alone” with the other woman. The suspect then allegedly grabbed the other woman by the neck and wielded a knife, and at one point threatened to self-harm.

Officers located the knife and kept it for evidence.

Forty-three-year-old Shannon Keith Shadrick was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
