Another Northwest Georgia tax office is moving to a four-day work week. Murray County’s Tax Commissioner Billy Childers says he got the idea from Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton.
Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Hampton made the decision to close her office on Wednesday of each week and extend hours on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s earlier this year. The tax commissioner’s employees are still working forty hours a week, and she says closing on Wednesday’s is saving the taxpayers money by not requiring more workers in the tax office or overtime for current employees.
Murray County Tax Commissioner Billy Childers liked the idea and says that he plans to implement the four-day week for his office in 2023. The Murray County Tax Commissioner’s new four-day workweek schedule will begin on January 3, 2023.
