The unemployment rate across Northwest Georgia took a jump in October, according to the latest numbers released by the Georgia Department of Labor.  Chattooga County’s unemployment rate has risen to the same place it was in October of 2021.

“Job seekers have continued to experience a favorable hiring environment across multiple job sectors, despite a slight uptick in unemployment rates,” said Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. “As we prepare for peak holiday hiring, we encourage job seekers to take advantage of the many employment opportunities, both full-time and part-time, available across Georgia.”

Chattooga County’s unemployment rate was 3.9% in October – higher than other counties in the area with the exception of Murray and Whitfield Counties which posted unemployment rates over 4%.  Walker, Dade, Catoosa, Gordon and Bartow Counties all had unemployment rates under 3% and Floyd County posted an unemployment rate of 3.2%.
