On Friday, local elected officials recognized retiring State Senator Jeff Mullis for his contributions to Chattooga County during the two decades he represented the area in the Georgia State Senate.

Senator Mullis is the longest serving Republican in the Georgia Senate and was one of the first Republicans elected to represent Northwest Georgia at a time when the area was solidly Democratic.

As chairman of the powerful Rule Committee, the senator was able to advance legislation that benefited the Northwest Georgia region and Chattooga County.

A resolution from Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry read, “Let it be resolved that Chattooga County and the citizens of Chattooga County recognize Senator Jeff Mullis for his outstanding contributions to Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia on this day, the ninth day of December in the year 2022”.
