Last Saturday, armed robbers held up a convenience store on Highway 48 just outside of Summerville.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department had been reviewing evidence and investigating the incident.  On Tuesday night, Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader released a statement about the incident and warned other stores in the area to be vigilant.

Sheriff Schrader said, “Investigators believe that the two suspects in the armed robbery are black males. Both were dressed in dark colored clothes and one held the owner at gunpoint during the robbery. The suspects were in and out in a matter of a couple of minutes and only took cash. Investigators are working with other agencies and believe that the pair are responsible for other robberies in surrounding areas”.

The sheriff continued saying, “At this point, basically we are telling all store owners, employees and customers to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings at all times. This robbery could have turned deadly in an instant at several different times. This pair was in the area around the store for approximately a half hour before actually entering the store. Again, We encourage anyone with information to contact us and you may stay anonymous”.
