The break in the winter weather has allowed for many controlled burns around the area which has prompted some concern by local citizens.  Reports last weekend of a fire at Cloudland turned out to be controlled burn off of Gilreath Mill Road.  Earlier this week controlled burns were taking place at the Allgood Farm on Lookout Mountain near the Walker – Chattooga County line. 

On Wednesday numerous reports of smoke in the Trion and Mountain View areas were called in – it turns out the fire was actually in northwestern Floyd County.  Officials in Floyd County said that there was a 400 acre controlled burn that was contributing to the smoke in the Trion and Mountain View areas.
