Kick off the new year and get a jump on those resolutions by lacing up and heading out to one of Georgia’s State Parks and Historic Sites to celebrate First Day Hikes on New Year’s Day.  James H. Sloppy Floyd State Park here in Chattooga County is one of the parks participating in the national initiative created to encourage people to get out and explore the great outdoors. Hikers are invited to enjoy the beauty and inspiration found in nature that awaits right in Georgia’s backyard.

This is the perfect experience for the whole family, even our furry family members are invited to join, as many guided hikes are dog friendly.  The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park invite you to participate in the First Day Hike and then enjoy some black-eyed peas and cornbread.

There are several guided hikes to choose from.  Hikes will start at 9:30 AM, but you can hike on your own throughout the day.  Come out and enjoy the First Day Hike at Sloppy Floyd State Park on Sunday.
