As of January 1, 2023, Georgia’s constitutional carry gun laws are now in full affect, meaning the carry of concealed handguns is now legal in the Peach State.  But, there are still restrictions in place.  You must be 21 to carry and free of criminal convictions and mental illness.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the laws following the 2022 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Georgia now joins 20 other states that have constitutional carry.

Not all lawmakers in Georgia are happy with the new laws.  GNN reports  Democratic State Representative Teri Anulewciz says she is concerned about road rage.  She represents portions of Cobb County in the Georgia House. But others are confident that constitutional carry was the right move for Georgia.  Republican State Senator Randy Robertson of the Columbus area says that private citizens with concealed weapons will actually deter crime.
