
Former state senator Jeff Mullis will be honored on Monday evening at the Summerville City Council meeting, according to an agenda that was released on Friday of last week. Mullis, who was first elected in 2001, served as state senator for the 53rd Senate District that encompasses Chattooga, Walker, Dade and a portion of Catoosa Counties. Mullis was the first Republican senator to represent Northwest Georgia in the General Assembly since Reconstruction. Mullis announced his retirement last year after serving over two decades in the state legislature. The Summerville City Council will be meeting at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall tomorrow evening.
