Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that he is looking into the feasibility of having the county’s sanitation hauling done by an outside company, but he’s not sure if it will actually save the county any money.

The commissioner has said in recent weeks that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find truck drivers willing to work for the wages the county offers.  WZQZ News asked the commissioner about the bid request for an outside company to haul the county’s sanitation to landfills in Collinsville, Alabama and Calhoun, Georgia.  The commissioner said, “We are doing the bid to see if there are any savings to be had in our garbage transportation costs”.

The commissioner says that he will be accepting bids until 10 AM on January 20th.

Commissioner Elsberry added, “I will not know whether or not there are any savings to be had until we get the bids in”.
