With the new legislative session underway in the Georgia General Assembly, the new state senator representing Northwest Georgia says that two of his goals are to end certificates of need for healthcare facilities, and to end the film tax credit in the Peach State.

Moore’s position on the film tax credit is opposite of that of former State Senator Jeff Mullis who supported the measure a decade ago.  Since that time, more than 3,000 movies and television programs have originated in Georgia, taking advantage of a 20% tax credit offered by the state when the production company invests $500,000 in the state.

Moore’s opposition to the certificate of need issue stems from the battle in Walker and Catoosa Counties over the building of a new hospital.  That issue was recently resolved when the health care provider opposing the certificate of need for the new hospital dropped their contesting of the new facility’s certificate of need.

Moore represents Dade, Walker, Catoosa and Chattooga Counties in the Georgia State Senate.
