State Representative Eddie Lumsden is beginning his sixth term representing Chattooga County and a portion of Floyd County in the Georgia House of Representatives.  With the legislative session now underway, Lumsden has retained the chairmanship of the House Insurance Committee, a position he was first elected to in 2020.

Lumsden and his wife own a State Farm Insurance agency in the Armuchee area.

Lumsden spoke with WZQZ News shortly before the legislative session began and said that this legislative session is shaping up to be a busy one, and that in the days leading up to the start of the session, he was making frequent trips to Atlanta to discuss impending legislation.

According to Lumsden, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has approached him about legislation that they want him to sponsor.  Lumsden, is a retired Georgia State Trooper.

The General Assembly met last week to set their calendar and one of the changes to this year’s calendar is that the House members will meet Monday – Thursday and have Friday’s off.  Georgia State Representatives are part-time citizen legislators and meet for 40 days each legislative session.
