A new synthetic drug that has become popular could soon become illegal in the state of Georgia.  Lawmakers in the General Assembly are moving towards banning "bath salts" sold legally right now in Georgia under brand names such as "Ivory Wave" and "Cloud Nine."

The Georgia House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee voted Wednesday to outlaw the five main chemicals used to create "bath salts," which are drugs usually snorted like cocaine but also can be smoked and injected. It was adopted by a 7-1 vote.

The trend of using these "bath salts" has spread across the nation and lawmakers are working to make sure the "bath salts" become illegal in Georgia.
