The Chattooga Board of Education met on Thursday of this week and voted to keep Eddie Elsberry as chairman of the Board of Education.
Elsberry was appointed to fulfill the unexpired term of John Turner in 2019 and was then elected to a full term of office in 2020. Elsberry is the only Democrat on the board and one of only two elected Democrats serving in public office in Chattooga County – the other being Coroner Earl Rainwater.
The board of education selected B.J. Montgomery to serve as the vice-chairman of the board, replacing Brad Hayes who did not run for reelection.
Thursday evening was the first meeting for three new board members: Tiffany Lawrence, Lori Brady and Bonnie Fletcher.
