Over the weekend, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified a New Jersey man as the one who was shot and killed by law enforcement officers in Calhoun late last week.

The GBI was called in to investigate the fatal officer involved shooting, which is standard procedure.  The GBI says that twenty-one-year-old Daniel Tang of River Edge, New Jersey was found in a building supply business around 2 AM by a Calhoun Police Officer.   Additional Calhoun Officers and Gordon County Sheriff Deputies arrived at the location. The officers and deputies entered the business and saw a man armed with a gun in the office area of the business.  The officers gave the man verbal commands to drop the weapon for several minutes.  The man pointed a rifle at the officers.  Calhoun PD officers fired their weapons at the man, shooting him.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The GBI investigation is ongoing and when completed will be turned over the Gordon County District Attorney.
