Right now, you can find Delta 8 at convenience stores, gas stations and vape shops in Chattooga County and across Northwest Georgia, but some Georgia lawmakers want to regulate the product that many people use to cope with pain and anxiety.

Delta-8 is a compound that is found in some types of hemp plant, but is lower in THC and therefor legal to sell in states that don’t allow medical or recreational cannabis.  The 2018 Hemp Farming bill allowed Delta-8 to be legally sold and an be found in various forms including gummies and vape cartridges, or even cooked into food items.

But some say that the product can be dangerous and is too easy for children to get their hands on.

Georgia state lawmakers are considering a bill that could prohibit the sale of products that contain Delta-8 THC. The measure would prevent the sale of hemp products to minors, but it also removes the reference to Delta-9 in state code, which would treat all THC-containing products the same.
