February is Black History month and the Chattooga County Historical Society is highlighting the contributions made by African-Americans to our county and Northwest Georgia this month.
The historical society will be holding a meeting today at the historic Summerville Depot and is inviting the public to come out and hear a presentation on the impact African-Americans have had in Chattooga County and the region.
Beverly Foster, historian of black history, and instrumental in founding the Walker County African American museum will be speaking.
The historical society urges those with old photographs or papers related to Chattooga County African American history are urged to bring them to share.
The Chattooga County Historical Society’s meetings are free and open to the public. Today’s meeting will take place at 2 PM.
