A meeting of the Chattooga County Land Use Commission this week was cut short after Chairman Eddy Willingham was asked why the county commissioner doesn’t attend land use commission meetings.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry has told WZQZ News that he won’t interfere with the committee’s decision making process and won’t look at proposed changes until the land use commission presents him with a final document. The land use commission had planned to discuss those changes on Tuesday, but after several comments and questions from members of the public, the meeting was adjourned.
The land use ordinance is almost a year old and the commissioner has promised that changes would be made to the ordinance, but to date, the commissioner is still waiting on the commission he appointed to come up with a draft of what those changes would look like.
A video of the meeting was promised on the county’s website, but as of Thursday evening the meeting video still had not been posted.
