Some shoplifters simply walk out of the store without paying. Some skip scan certain items. But one shoplifter was pretty creative in his thievery, according to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Walmart in Trion where they talked with loss prevention employees who said that the suspect had consumed some food items inside the store without first paying for the items. The suspect then put items in a modified dog food bag that had a zipper compartment taped to the side of the bag. The suspect put items in the zipper compartment and then only scanned the bag of dog food as he left the store.
Walmart employees stopped the suspect before he got away.
Thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Laing Simer was charged with shoplifting and taken to the Chattooga County Jail on Sunday of this week.
