Developers of the “Lakes of Summerville” are coming under fire for not delivering on land deeds and promises made.  The community, which is actually located well north of Summerville in the Teloga Community, was developed to be a “cooperative community, centered around faith, family & sustainability”, according to their website.

The development was supposed to be a community project where people would buy to build on. It was advertised as land where people could purchase and build energy efficient homes, vacation homes, bike trails and fishing ponds.

But investors in the project have come forward saying that they have received land deeds that were not legitimate.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told reporters, ““The person selling the property didn’t have the authority to sell the property. We found that some people have received deeds, but they are fictitious deeds.”

Sheriff Schrader says his office has launched an investigation into the developer behind the project.
