New information released by the Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome says that a truck driver involved in a crash in Menlo last Friday had an open container of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Troopers responded to the accident at 11:17 AM on Friday on Peach Orchard Road in Menlo. The tractor trailer was traveling south on Peach Orchard Road and missed the entrance to the Trager Pellet Mill and traveled down Peach Orchard Road. The truck struck a mailbox and then traveled off the west side of Peach Orchard Road and overturned coming to rest on its passenger side.
The driver of the truck was transported to Atrium Medical Center in Rome by Atrium EMS with minor injuries. The driver was cited for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, and failure to maintain a single lane. Peach Orchard Road was closed for most of the day for vehicle removal.
The Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome told WZQZ News on Monday that the crash report has not been completed and the name of the driver has not yet been released.
