Georgia’s Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson is crediting “pro-growth” policies for the low unemployment here in Chattooga County, Northwest Georgia and across the state.

Thompson said, “Pro-growth policies that foster innovation and drive success are why Georgia remains the No. 1 state for business and a perennial powerhouse in talent development. Even with a slowing nationwide economy, communities across Georgia continue to thrive with low unemployment and high job growth.”

Chattooga County’s unemployment rate is at 4.2%, which is higher than the Northwest Georgia Region.  Currently the ten-county area has an unemployment rate of 3.3%.

The good news is, a record number of people are now working in Northwest Georgia.  In the month of February, there were 420,418 people working in Northwest Georgia.
