Earlier this week, the Summerville Police Department was called to a domestic incident on Third Street. When they arrived they spoke with thirty-six-year-old William Green who said that he was breaking up with his significant other, and was leaving, and wanted to take a handgun with him but she wouldn’t let him have it.
When officers spoke with the woman, she said that Green was a convicted felon and that she wasn’t going to allow him to have the gun. Officers were told that Green had purchased the gun from his nephew. Green told officers that he got the gun so his girlfriend could carry it with her on her delivery job, but now that he was leaving he wanted it back. When officers pointed out that Green was a convicted felon, he began backtracking and told officers the gun belonged to his nephew.
When officers retrieved the gun from the home and ran the serial numbers, they found out that the gun had been stolen from a vehicle in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Green was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
