A Northwest Georgia man was sentenced in Cherokee County, Alabama to life in prison for the 2021 knife attack on his wife in Centre.  Joseph Shane Langston was found guilty by a jury in Cherokee County for second-degree domestic violence.

Police said that in May of 2021, Langston attacked his wife with a knife while she was in the shower and fled the scene.  Langston was later captured with the knife he used in the attack still in his possession.

On Monday of this week, Langston appeared before Circuit Judge Andrew Hairston and was sentenced to a term of life in prison following a sentencing hearing. At the sentencing hearing, the victim testified regarding her injuries and the violence perpetrated against her.

Further evidence was introduced of Langston’s prior convictions in the State of Georgia for acts of violence, among other prior felonies, misdemeanors, and probation violations.
