A DeKalb County Corrections Officer has resigned his position and was arrested on theft charges on Thursday.

DeKalb County Chief Jail Administrator Mitchell Dendy received information that some of an inmate’s property had gone missing.

That inmate had already been transported from the DeKalb County Detention Center to serve a prison sentence with the Alabama Department of Corrections.

An investigation was initiated and throughout the day Thursday with several individuals being interviewed.

It was eventually determined that the property, valued at approximately $175, had been taken by a Corrections Officer, 19 year old Jesse Aaron House of Fort Payne.

Following an interview, he was arrested and charged with Theft of Property 3rd Degree.

House was allowed to resign from his position as a corrections officer. He has been released from the Detention Center following posting of a $500 bond.

The stolen items were returned by House to the Sheriff’s Office, and will be returned to the family of the owner.
