The University System of Georgia continues to see a decline in overall enrollment. According to the university system, spring registration was down by 311,484 over last year. The drop-off in enrollment follows a steady increase in the number of students over the past seven years. The trend is nothing unique to Georgia. According to researchers, enrollment in colleges and universities across the nation is falling off due to low unemployment, financial uncertainty and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. While undergraduate enrollment has declined overall about 5% during the past five years, graduate student enrollment has risen by about 24%.
