Rome Firefighters battled a structure fire Monday night at the top of the hill on Ross Street.

According to Rome Fire Department Division Chief Clete Bonney:

The call came in at around 10:27 p.m.

Firefighters went into defensive mode since there was no way to make an interior attack.

They battled the blaze from both Ross Street and Smith Street.

The single-story home, which Bonney said had been abandoned for some time, was a complete loss.

There were no injuries.
