Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey was chosen to serve on a committee that is investigating a Rome City Commissioner in response to ethics violation accusations.

Harvey will be joining Bremen Mayor Sharon Sewell and Adairsville Mayor Kenneth Carson on the panel that will be hearing the charges against Commissioner Mark Chochran.

The complaints center around allegations of abrasiveness toward staff members and questions about whether Cochran faced a conflict of interest or had a financial interest in projects that came before the Rome City Commission.

Harvey and the other two mayors were chosen at random by the Georgia Municipal Association to serve on the panel.

The three mayors met via Zoom this week and will hold another hearing in the near future to determine the validity of the charges against Cochran.
