A false report of kidnapping led to a Floyd County woman’s arrest Friday night, March 25, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Katelyn Virginia McCollum, 19, 56 Lynn Drive, was charged with felony false statements and guard line violation. She was also charged with misdemeanor false report of a crime, obstruction and disorderly conduct.

McCollum told people through text messages and the internet she had been kidnapped and was being held against her will. Police arrived at the McClain Road residence to find she was voluntarily at an acquaintance’s house, according to reports. When police arrived she fled into the woods and was later verbally abusive during arrest.

While being booked at the jail, police found a handmade tattoo device on her. She remained in jail Saturday morning.
