Jackie Samuel Plemons, 53, 2065 Ridge Road in Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with impersonating a public officer or employee and unauthorized vehicle with red/amber lights. Police said Plemons allegedly flashed a strobe light and a blue light at the motorist. Plemons is facing felony charges.
Plemons was driving his red Mustang on the South Bypass near Southeast High School when he came upon the other driver, police spokesman Bruce Frazier said.
“There’s some ‘he said, she said’ about who actually was trying to get the other person to race, but the complainant stated that Plemons acted like he was trying to get him to race and they were speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down,” Frazier said. “Then the complainant said he was trying to pass Plemons to get away from him. And when he accelerated, Plemons turned on some strobe lights and a blue light.”
The complainant did not pull over. He slowed down, followed Plemons to his workplace at a Mohawk Industries plant at 2100 S. Hamilton St. and called the police. An officer discovered Plemons had clear strobe lights mounted in the grill of his car and a blue LED bar across the bumper.
“He said he was doing it to say ‘Hi’ to the other guy,” Frazier said.
Plemons was not dressed as a police officer nor did he have a badge or gun. The incident report stated Plemons was aware another person was recently arrested for impersonating a police officer.
On March 17, a Dalton man was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer after the driver he pulled over turned out to be an undercover Dalton Police Department detective.
