Last Thursday, Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry awarded four grants that were funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).  Two of the grants were awarded to local farms and two were awarded to local businesses.

According to the application process on the county’s website, the farms had to be locally owned, family farms and have experienced economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The commissioner awarded a grant of $10,000 to Shallow Creek Farm, owned by Shawn McCrary in the Armuchee area of Chattooga County. Another grant of $10,000 was awarded to Lay or Bust Farm in Subligna; owned by Jeremy and Sarah Eager.

Two grants of $5,000 each were awarded to local businesses.  Those grants were awarded to Cook & Connelly Law Firm and Lowe’s Septic Service.
