Workers were installing the new turf at Buddy Windle Field at Chattooga High School last week. The new artificial turf will allow athletic events in wetter, rainy conditions and will also allow Chattooga to have home track and field events.
The track is being installed to meet 2023 GHSA specifications. Chattooga County BOE Chairman Eddie Elsberry told WZQZ Newst “This will allow Chattooga to not only practice on proper length and width track but also host track meets. Chattooga has had multiple state champions in Track and Field over the past years with no proper facilities to practice on. Our students and community deserve this upgrade to enhance the total educational experience at CHS. The pride in the schools are already building around these projects. This along with our top notch vocational program and excellent academic programs make our campus second to none”.

After completion of the turf installation, workers will come back to finish cutting the lettering and logos on the field.
