A fifty-seven-year-old Rome man was arrested on Saturday after he was clocked going over the speed limit in Summerville. Turns out, the man also was under the influence of alcohol and had an outstanding warrant.
Summerville police clocked Johnny Garrett, who was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor on Highway 114 doing 64 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. During the traffic stop, officers determined that Garrett was under the influence after a breath test. Police say that Garrett was “uncooperative” during the arrest. He was also cited for driving on suspended or revoked license.
Garrett had a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI and driving on suspended or revoked license charge.
He was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
