A statewide Bible reading will be held next month that will see portions of the Bible read on the courthouse steps of all 159 counties in the state. The readings will take place simultaneously and result in the whole Bible being read on the same day, throughout the state.
Last year Bible readings were held, not only in Georgia, but in 15 other states and in 22 countries.
Georgia has the second largest number of counties in the U.S., second only to Texas which has 254 counties. Due to the large number of counties, the readings, when divided, allowed the entire Bible to be read in the State of Georgia in one hour or less.
The Bible reading will take place at 7:14 AM on July 14, 2023. The portion read in Chattooga County will be the first chapter of Joel through the sixth chapter of Amos.
