
The controversy over Chattooga County’s land use ordinance continues to spark conversations across the county. This week, the planning commission met to send two different versions of proposed amendments to the ordinance that Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry hastily adopted last year.
Commissioner Elsberry has said repeatedly that he would not interfere with the planning commission’s work on amending the county’s land use ordinance and would wait to make a decision until after they had sent him proposed revisions. Originally, the commissioner said that would happen before the end of 2022, but the proposed changes weren’t sent to the commissioner until this week.
Now, two people involved with the group Chattooga County Concerned Citizens, have sent a letter to the commissioner appealing the actions of the planning commission. You can read that letter below:
