A Dodge truck that was reported stolen last week was recovered on Sunday night after a drug agent with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the vehicle.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News that the drug agent saw the truck that had been reported stolen by Mitch Maynard earlier in the week, as the agent was travelling on Ridgeway Road in Trion.  The agent turned around to attempt to stop the driver, and the driver sped off.  The driver then crashed the truck at the end of Ridgeway Road and fled on foot.  The driver of the stolen truck was not located on Sunday night, but Mr. Maynard’s truck sustained damage and was towed from the scene.

Sheriff Schrader said that his investigators are following up on several leads in the case.  According to a report from the sheriff’s office, a cell phone was found inside the truck.

WZQZ News will have more information as it becomes available.
