The State of Georgia is removing voters from the rolls who have been deemed “inactive” and the Chattooga County Registrars Office says that notices were mailed late last month that notify voters who are considered “inactive”.  Those would be voters who did not vote in the last two General Election cycles in 2020 and 2022.

There are three ways for a voter to become Inactive:
*having returned mail
*not making contact for 5 calendar years (completing an application, signing a petition, requesting an absentee ballot, or voting)
*not responding to a confirmation notice that was sent as a result of information collected from the USPS National Change of Address or the cross-state notifications
The Chattooga Registrars Office says that they have had several of the notices that they sent out returned as “undeliverable” from the U.S. Postal Service.  If you think you might be on the list and haven’t received a notice, you can check your status HERE
Voters on the list will be cancelled if they do not make contact with the registrars office prior to September 3, 2023.
