A former Georgia State Senator has been selected to head the state Republican Party.  At their convention last week, the new Republican Party chairman is promising to “fight back” against Democrats.

Delegates at the convention in Columbus chose former state senator Josh McKoon, now a lawyer for the state technical college system, to lead the party for the next two years.  Notably absent from the state’s Republican Party convention was the most popular elected Republican in the state, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. Kemp has set up a parallel organization to the state party and is urging Republican donors to contribute to it instead of the state party.

Kemp remains the target of many far-right Republicans who claim that President Biden didn’t win the Peach State in the last Presidential election, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
