A stray dog has been killing chickens on Lake Wanda Reita Road.  According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Haley and Hunter Ratledge told a responding deputy that a brown lab with a collar – but no tags – has been killing their poultry.  The complainants said that they returned home one day last week to find some of their chickens had been killed.  It’s not the first time the dog has killed chickens on the property.  The complainants also told the deputy that they had contacted Chattooga County Animal Control about the dog and were told that they could put the dog down if it was killing their livestock.  The couple wanted a report on file with the sheriff’s office in case they have to use lethal force to protect their chickens.
