New playground equipment is coming to J.R. “Dick” Dowdy Park.  The City of Summerville said that installation of the new playground equipment will begin today, September 6th.   While the work is going on, the city is asking people to use extra caution at the park.  Also, the playground area will be closed until the installation is complete.

At their June meeting, the Summerville City Council approved the purchase of new playground equipment for J.R. “Dick” Dowdy Park.  The winning bid for the playground equipment went to Safe Play Solutions out of Canton, Georgia.

Safe Play Solutions says, “Excited to see this design for the City of Summerville come to life. They made it uniquely their own with a lot of custom touches, and a play elements everywhere you look. This oval shape has play value both in the center and around the outside. 5 slides, play panels, dome roof lines, monkey bars, climbers, tubes, bridges, you name it, this one really checks a lot of boxes. Look at the colors they came up with! Super cool setup that we are excited to see it ourselves”.

The city will be paying $89,875 for the equipment.
