While the total number of new COVID-19 cases in Chattooga County were down over the past week, the number of new cases across the region were up. Floyd County had the highest number of new cases at 44. Chattooga County only reported two new cases, according to the latest numbers released on Wednesday by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Statewide, Georgia had 1,925 case reports, down from 2,128 the previous week. The Georgia Department of Public Health says that while these are the “reported cases”, there are likely more not being reported by people using home COVID tests.
